Description
The Daedalus is a tribute to the land where the Stupor Mundi brand was born: the Sicani Mountains, in the heart of the Platani Valley, an area linked to the legend of Daedalus’ flight in Sicily.
Daedalus (representing creativity) was a brilliant architect and inventor, best known for building the famous labyrinth of the Minotaur in Crete. According to legend, Daedalus, after helping Theseus and Ariadne escape the deadly labyrinth of Knossos, was imprisoned by King Minos, along with his son Icarus. To escape, Daedalus built two pairs of feather and wax wings for himself and his son Icarus, warning him not to fly too high near the sun. Icarus, exhilarated by the thrill of flight, ignored his father, flew too close to the sun, the wax melted, and he fell into the sea. Daedalus, desperate, reached Sicily, where he was hosted by the Sican king Kokalos, near the ancient city of Camicos. King Minos reached Sicily to recapture Daedalus, but the Sican king Kokalos and his daughters killed him, saving the inventor and marking the end of his hunt.
The two colorways recall the colors of the land: the green of olives and pistachios and the orange of oranges.
